Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a natural medical procedure that uses your body´s own growth factors to help stimulate healthy hair growth. PRP is concentrated blood plasma containing a high number of platelets. These platelets promote healing and accelerate the rate and degree of tissue regeneration, as well as the formation of new cell growth. With respect to hair loss and hair transplantation, PRP can be used for the purpose of stimulating inactive or dormant hair follicles in a variety of hair loss conditions and to stimulate grafted follicles into the growth phase.
A blood sample is taken and placed in a centrifuge where it is spun to separate the platelet rich plasma from the other factors in the blood. Once the platelets have been separated from the blood, this concentration is injected into the area to be treated.
Regular sessions promote healthier hair growth, but the treatment duration can vary from patient to patient. PRP sessions are usually performed regularly over an initial 6 month period to promote aggressive recovery. After this time and depending on progress, the interval between sessions can usually be increased to maintain the results achieved.
Many patients experience positive results after 2 to 3 months, although typcially it can take up to six to twelve months to judge the results of PRP “visually” in the mirror.
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a concentrated solution of platelets derived from your own blood. A small sample is taken and processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which is packed with growth factors that aid in healing and regeneration. It’s also sometimes referred to as plasma replacement therapy or plasma-rich platelet therapy.
PRP can be an effective treatment for certain types of hair loss. Many clients notice reduced shedding and gradual regrowth, especially when treatment is started early, before the follicles have completely ceased producing hair.
Platelet-rich plasma injections, often called PRP injections or PRP shots, deliver growth factors directly to the targeted area. In hair restoration, these injections are strategically placed across thinning areas of the scalp to stimulate follicle activity and encourage regrowth.
For hair loss, you may see a reduction in shedding within a few weeks, with noticeable improvements in hair thickness and coverage typically appearing between three and six months. For skin treatments like PRP microneedling, results may become visible sooner and continue to improve over several months.
PRP is not a permanent solution for hair loss. Without ongoing treatments, the results may gradually fade as the underlying causes of hair thinning persist. Regular maintenance sessions can help prolong the benefits and sustain your results.
To maintain your results, your practitioner may suggest periodic top-up sessions. Additionally, adopting a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet, practising good scalp care, and managing stress can all contribute to better hair health and help extend the effects of your treatment.

PRP hair treatment, also known as PRP therapy for hair, involves injecting platelet-rich plasma into areas of the scalp experiencing thinning. The growth factors in the plasma can help reactivate dormant follicles, promote new hair growth, and enhance hair thickness over time.
