Top West End performer, Daniel Koek, tells us about his hair transplant journey and the fantastic result he achieved at Vinci Hair’s Harley Street clinic in London.

Daniel was aware of his progressive hair loss and knew he needed to do something about it. He had spent years watching as his hairline changed and receded. Much of this was due to hereditary hair loss, but his professional life added to the problem; at work, he was constantly wearing head-mounted microphones, complex headdresses and make-up.

“I decided to have a hair transplant with Vinci about two years ago. My schedule made things difficult, but I finished a year’s run playing one of the leads in Les Misérables and as soon as that was finished, I jumped at the chance of having it done.”

Daniel had a Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) hair transplant at our clinic in Harley Street, London. Hairs are taken using the ‘strip technique’ and, after separation, the hair grafts are implanted in the balding or thinning area. These hair grafts are genetically resistant to the root cause of hair loss in most men the dreaded hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). As a result of this resistance the hair transplant results are permanent and Daniel wont be needing to take any more breaks from his acting. 

“I inherited my male pattern baldness from my grandparents. My hair was receding predominantly from the temples, and the frontal lobe bit was thinning, but my hair at the back has luckily remained quite thick.”

After his surgery, Daniel experienced rapid hair growth. Daniel’s hair transplant journey was astounding, within three months the grafts were already showing, and within a year his final result was there.

“I’m thrilled with the result. It’s now thirteen months since I had the procedure done. People come up to me and say I look great, I look younger. I’m quite open about having had the transplant, but for those people that don’t know, it’s not detectable. I know I’ve had it done and that’s what’s important for me.”
